Beaded stars
I made two puffy star ornaments last week, pictured below. I used a mix of Japanese and Czech seed beads (cylinders and rounds) and learned that rounds do funky things to the tension in larger versions of this pattern. Next time I will only be using cylinder beads, specifically Miyuki Delicas.
I‘ve been beading for four years and remember being in awe of other people’s 3D creations, never thinking I’d get to their level. Now 3D beadwork is all I’ve been working on ✨ Practice makes progress, etc.
Beading taught me that I can learn how to do pretty much anything (well, within reason) thanks to YouTube and library books and that learning a new skill means being uncomfortable for a while while I’m bad at it. I’d like to make a zine about my experience as I think a lot of people struggle with the early stages of learning crafts, often giving up before they understand of what they’re truly capable.
